Happy Friday everyone! Do you struggle with masculine cards? If so, you are not alone. Buckle up, the tour is about to begin and today we will be making 2 stops. You are sure to be inspired to create something for the men in your life, whether they are 2 or 92!

Our first stop is a new set from the GM line called, “You Drive Me Crazy”.

Isn’t is chock full of retro fun?! The sentiments are a hoot! It instantly conjures up bright colors and images of drive-ins and soda fountains. Kristine created some fun samples for you. Here’s something groovy…

I love the colors she went with on this sample. Oh, and the houndstooth, how perfect!

Are the wheels turning yet?? They are sure to go into overdrive after our second stop,  the next train set from the B&O line called, “Silhouette Train”.

This set has so much to offer and as you will see, so many possibilities.

Jean used primary colors to create her own background paper on this card fit for the boys. Isn’t she so clever? I have a few nephews that would love this.

I have decided that Joanne is the Master of Masking! Check out this awesome black and white card…

One of my favorite images in the set is the conductor and the kids silhouette. Here is a card I made that isn’t so train themed…

This concludes our transportation tour today, please exit safely to the galleries to check out more great samples of You Drive Me Crazy and Silhouette Train .

We love to get feedback, so leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Blessings on your weekend!

Now how about a birthday card:

Sherrie hit the nail on the head with this one!  These sunny, cheerful papers, sweet image, and playful sentiment will bring a smile to birthday girls of all ages.

One more super creative card from Joanne:

I do not how time passes so quickly! Here we are at the start of another month, November, which means the countdown to Christmas is on. It also means it is time for another Stamp of the Month release. This time we have a super cute stamp that will make fun Christmas cards and carry right on through winter.

Readers…meet “Dancing Snowman”…

Isn’t he just so adorable? He has jolly written all over him. The design team has whipped up some fantastic cards to get your creative juices flowing.

Kristine combined some whimsical holiday papers and a little paper piecing for this fun card…

Check out this high-kicking chorus line of snowmen that Joanne created…

I can’t help but smile when I see this snowman. Actually, I have a confession to make… I have a thing for snowmen. I am not sure I have seen one yet that I didn’t like, but this one is near the top of my list! What do you think? Did his cheeky smile get you too?? I think he would look great on a spinner card!

To see even more snowy goodness, check out the gallery here.

We’re glad you stopped by! Have a wonderful Sunday.

Victorian Light Release

The weekend is amost here! It is hard to believe that October is coming to a close already. In Upstate NY, the leaves have turned and are now blanketing the ground in magnificent color. The rakes will be getting a workout this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back tomorrow night.

Today I have the lastest release from Thomas Kinkade to share with you, called “Victorian Light”.

Kristine created this sample, showing off all the wonderful details in vivid color. She chose a sentiment from the set  “Beacon of Hope”  (Scene It Line) which compliments the stamp perfectly.

Joanne went with the spotlight technique on her sample. I like how the lighthouse stands out on an otherwise monochromatic card!  The sentiment on her card also happens to come from the “Beacon of Hope” set.

To see even more inspiration with “Victorian Light” visit the gallery here.

You are in for a triple treat today! There are 3 beautiful new stamps being released today, all from the Saturday Evening Post line.

First, is a stamp called Polar Bear Pair.

The polar bears exhibits are always tops on my list when we go to the zoo, they are such amazing creatures. Joanne created this great card and paired it with a sentiment from the Motivational Centers set. Simple and stunning.

Up second is a stamp that will remind you of a bygone era, called Leopard and Beauty.

It makes me think of the early black and white Hollywood glamour movies. For this sample, Joanne created a work of art in full color! Check out her masking and feather…WOW!

Last up is a classic beauty called Horse and Rider.

Lisa combined black and cream to create an equally classic card!

You will find these samples along with many more in the Saturday Evening Post galleries.

Did something catch your fancy today? Leave a comment and let us know.

One item of note: the weekly product focus is back in the CHF Forums. This week Laura talks about Memento Markers, a new item to the store. Read what she has to say here. The markers are on sale this week as well so be sure to check them out.

As October comes to an end Thanksgiving will be here before you know it!  It is not to soon to start working on your Thanksgiving Day  projects.

One of my favorite stamp sets to use for Thanksgiving is Kim Hughes, “Lets Get Stuffed“.

Today’s “tutorial” is not so much a “tutorial”, as it is a little nudge to get your creativity going!

This is just a small sampling of ideas to get your juices flowing.

Going to family or a friends house for the holidays?  Don’t show up empty handed.  In just a few short minutes you can create a terrific tag for a bottle of wine or sparkling cider for your hostess.

After the get together what hostess wouldn’t be thrilled to receive this thank you card in the mail?

Find yourself hosting the big dinner this year?  You can add a little festivity to your table with these great place cards.

You can make fun napkin rings for your table too.

And finally…these images are the perfect size to make great little wine glass charms.

Want more info on how to make any of these items?  You can e mail me (stampwithkristine@sbcglobal.net)

Want more ideas?  Check out the gallery.

Want to win one of Kim’s, “Lets Get Stuffed” stamp set?  Just leave a comment on this post telling us how you celebrate Thanksgiving by this Thursday at Noon and I will randomly pick one of you to win this stamp set!

From Leaves to Sleds!

Welcome to another exciting release day at the farm! Today we have something new from Shady Tree Studios and from Tom Allen’s Friendly Kritters line. Grab a cuppa and enjoy what the team has cooked up for you.

First up is a fun duo from Shady Tree Studios called Nesting Oak Leaves. It comes with one outline stamp and one solid stamp for great versatility.

The outline stamp works well for coloring and paper piecing. Both would work to create beautiful backgrounds and for emboss resist. Here is a sample I made using some rich fall colored paper from Basic Grey. The leaves shine when embossed with gold.

Just in case you needed a little variety in your leaves, Shady Tree Studios is also releasing a second set called Nesting Maple Leaves. Again, there is a duo of an outline and solid stamp.

Jean combined warm colors, stitching and buttons to create this monochromatic beauty…

On this sample, I did some watercoloring with dye inks to capture the color of changing leaves. The 4″x4″ kraft card base allows the leaf to take center stage.

I have been anxiously awaiting our next release. This latest stamp from Tom Allen’s Friendly Kritters line is called Turtle Sled and it is A-dorable! Sledding down a hill can be pure joy and this image captures that perfectly.

Kristine combined some winter papers and frosty accents on this fun card…

Doesn’t it make you want to hit the slopes?!

As always, you will find more inspiration in the galleries. Check them out… Nesting Oak Leaves, Nesting Maple Leaves and Turtle Sled.

While we are on the subject of inspiration, did you know that Lisa Silver posts a weekly technique project in the forums? This week she shares a gratitude journal with a fall theme. Some of the Shady Tree leaves would work well with this idea. See her detailed tutorial here.

We have a winner for this week’s blog candy! It was comment #8.

A Royal Birthday

Today is release day for a new stamp set in the Rummage Bin collection called A Royal Birthday.

These images have beautiful detail and are too fun.  There are so many ways to work with these stamps using products and embellishments that are hot right now and we all have in our stash.  Its time to get out your bling, pearls, flourishes, glitter, embossing, and ribbons!

Jean made the most wonderful little tag book.  We all squealed with delight when we saw it!

Look at how she put rubies in the Queen’s hair!

Birthdays are a Royal Pain.  Now that I’m in my 40’s this will become my most used sentiment , lol!

And the mirror stamps beautifully on metallic paper.  Look at all of the detail.

Look at that yummy glitter!  Jean made a masterpiece here to celebrate the Queen.

There are so many more great samples in the gallery.  We had a lot of fun with this one, and you will, too!

Happy stamping,

Laura

Glittering Snowflake gift tag tutorial

Dress up a package with glittering snowflakes in bold, modern color with this easy project. Hot pink looks sassy on a kraft shipping tag but why not try turquoise glitter for a sophisticated look or even black for unexpected drama!

I find the secret of using glitter for an intricate design like this is the kind of powder that forms a sticky surface when you heat it - I used Stamp n Bond by Stampendous but you may find other brands too.

Ready? Let’s get started! You can click through for a bigger version of the picture on any of the steps if you’d like it.

Supplies:

Swirling Snowflakes Backgrounder
Christmas Expressions
Shipping tags
Versamark ink by Tsukineko
Frost White pigment ink by Clearsnap
Stamp n Bond by Stampendous
Ultrafine glitter
Labels Four Nestabilities by Spellbinder
Twill tape
Gold metallic thread or fine cord
Eyelet punch (or other small hole punch)
Eyelet (optional)
Heat gun
Note:
It’s useful to have several pieces of scrap paper on hand for this project – use one sheet if you follow my method for stamping with the backgrounder, a second sheet for the Stamp n Bond powder and a third one for the glitter. That way, you don’t end up with anything stuck where you don’t want it or glitter mixed in with your sticky powder!
Die cut or punch a shape from a shipping tag to fit the sentiment (you’ll get several from one tag if you’re making multiples of these). I used the third die up in the Labels Four Nestabilities set here. Stamp sentiment with Versamark and sprinkle Stamp n Bond on top. Return excess powder to the jar.
Get your glitter and scrap paper ready to go so you can move quickly with the next step. Heat the Stamp n Bond powder just until it goes clear and shiny (you can see it starting to go on the left here, the powder on the right is still unmelted). I use a bamboo skewer to hold down the piece so I keep my fingers out of the way - those guns get hot!
Dump lots of glitter on top and wait a few minutes for it to cool right down before you tip off the excess glitter and return it to the jar. You can use a soft brush to gently clean off any final stray bits of glitter.
Use the Frost White ink direct to paper to define the edges of your shape.
Punch a hole at the top and set an eyelet if you’re using one. Loop gold thread or cord through the hole.
Now ink up your Swirling Snowflakes backgrounder with Versamark and repeat the steps, this time with your full shipping tag (Versamark > Stamp n Bond > heat gun > glitter). I like to lay the inked stamp face up on the desk and lay the tag on top, cover with a piece of scrap paper and smooth over with my hand to get good ink coverage before adding the Stamp n Bond powder.

Don’t forget to wait a few minutes before you tip off the extra glitter – it sticks best if the melted powder is allowed to cool fully!

Thread a scrap of twill through the hole in the main tag and then push the ends of the gold thread of the sentiment tag through, going from the front to the back. Wrap the thread tightly round the twill and tie it to make a “waist” just above the top of the tag.

I hope you enjoyed this simple project and maybe you’ll be be inspired to glitter up a few creations for Christmas!

Could you use a little something extra for those holiday projects? I used Christmas Expressions from the Mona Lisa Moments line for my project - it’s a wonderfully versatile set of sentiments with something for just about any style of project. Just leave a comment on this post before Thursday noon EST and you’ll be in the running to win a set for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by - happy stamping!

Happy Friday! There is always something coming hot off the presses at the farm and today we have a new backgrounder to share with you called ”Swirling Snowflakes”.

We have a winter storm advisory in parts of Western New York today, the flurries are flyin’ both in the air and in the studio! The design team has whipped up some incredible samples with this beautiful backgrounder. You will finds loads of inspiration for your holiday creations.

Laura created this “clearly” gorgeous tag with acetate…

Joanne embossed it in white onto glossy paper and then did a bit of alcohol/re-inker magic on the background. Her use of vellum and crisp colors combine for a simply stunning card!

In the gallery, you will find even more “cool” creations done with bleach, vellum, emboss resist, just to name a few. Check out all the Swirling Snowflakes goodness here.

Have a wonderful weekend!
