Corvette Birthday

The Pomeroy’s are celebrating Daniel’s 7th birthday today so it seems fitting that Corvette Birthday is being released on the same day!  Liz says that Daniel wants a pair of Carhart overalls like all the big people in the family has.  Wait a few years…he’ll be wanting a Corvette!  As with the other GM sets, you’ll find this one to be pretty versitile and a lot of fun to play with!

I thought it would be fun to stamp the corvette multiple times to create this fun look.

This is exactly how the stamps came placed on the rubber and I liked the way they fit together so well that I transfered them right to a card.

That’s the Diamond Plate Backgrounder you see for the background.  If  you are a fan of the GM line the Diamond Plate Backgrounder is a “must have” to use with it.  I have a few more samples in the gallery for you to look at.  Enjoy!

Glory of Easter

My husband is a pastor so you can imagine we rarely miss a service, but Easter Sunday is one of my two favorite times at church. I love that the flowers are filling the air with their perfume, everyone is dressed in their best and the trumpets announce the celebration of an empty tomb. It is glorious!

Today we are releasing a stamp set that Tom Allen created called, “Glory of Easter“. It is full of images celebrating the Risen Christ.

6002-Glory-of-Easter--Size-

I created this sample with some brayering and coloring with Copic markers. The scripture included in the set is perfect.

1_17emptytomb

Holly created this colorful card. The butterflies she added are such a nice symbol of life.

Here is a simple, yet, elegant card done in gold and ivory.

The cross images will work well beyond Easter too. Think confirmations and baptisms or when you want to simply send a scripture to encourage a friend.

The gallery has a few more samples to spark your creativity.

So, what do you think? We always appreciate your feedback.

Its the first of the month and we’re releasing a real beauty for February, Spring Song.

1079---February-SOTM-Spring

Spring is right around the corner.  This sweet image colors up beautifully and has a great shape for card layouts.

Just_a_Note2

Kristine paired up Spring Song with the Picotage Backgrounder and sentiment from Script Essential Expressions.  Her color scheme is clear, bright, and so cheery!

Feb_SOTM_resized

Jennifer paired up the image with the Vintage Text Scrapblock that she aged and layered to really make the image pop.

And Joanne made a bookmark.  Paired with a sentiment from Motivational Centers this makes a perfect little gift.

Cornish Heritage Farms is proud to present the latest member of the Backgrounder family, Vintage Chintz.  This stamp is a wonderful way to add an antique look to your creations. This backgrounder recalls the romance of a bygone era.

Our designers were inspired to create so many vintage creations with it!

Kristine used it as a traditional background but paper pieced a coordinating skirt in the stamped image from the Saturday Evening Post collection, Common Cold.  I love the colors she chose for this card.

Get Well by Kristine

Jean says “I just loved how this image stamped on the new Simply Linen card stock – it looks like fabric.” She paired her background, stamped in blue with the Vintage Text Scrapblock . She also used stamps from the All Things Considered line including Botanical Bliss and Haute Couture.  I adore the layered look of this card.

Vintage Chintz Botantical by Jean

Tracy made a quick little creation perfect for gift giving.  She stamped the background for this pendant in Pear Tart Memento then added a computer printed monogram. She used ranger glass slides and foil tape to complete her sweet project.

Finally, I coupled what is now my favorite Backgrounder with a tulip Silouette Stamp and a sentiment from the Sympathy Expresssions set.  I used a page from my thrift shop set of vintage encyclopedias to complete this simple and very quick sympathy card.

Praying for you

I hope that you enjoy creating with this backgrounder as much as the Cornish Heritage Design Team did! There are lots more samples to view on our sample gallery so make sure you stop over there before leaving us.

And one more announcement before I leave you… the winner of the stamp set “Silhouette Blooms 1” goes to #45 Kim Leach. Kim, please email your address to liz@cornishheritagefarms.com and she will send you your stamp set. Kim left a comment on Laura’s Mini Card Set Tutorial on Monday. Congrats Kim!

Cornish Heritage Farms does such an incredible job of finding talent! They offer us the opportunity to stamp with art by such wonderful artists as  Thomas Kinkade, Tom Allen, Kim Hughes, and Sarah England. Talk about a diverse group with a broad spectrum of styles. Surely, there is something for everyone.

Today, the Farm is releasing two new images by the talented Sara England. They are both done in a woodcut type design, such a cool look. The first is called, “Gone Hiking“.

110-Gone-Hiking---Size-R

Lisa created a stunner with this stamp. She added a bit of additional shading with a pencil and some distressing to the edges.

Missing-You2

The second stamp is called, “Whale Watching“. A walk on the beach would be a welcome departure from winter, at least for us northerners.

109-Whale-Watching---Size-R

Kristine made a wonderful card, perfect for Father’s Day. Her color choices clearly show how well this stamp works for a masculine design.

 A_Special_Person

Here is one more sample, this one created by Laura. I just love how she paired the image with sentiments from the set, “On the Desk“.

There are more beautiful samples awaiting you in the Gone Hiking gallery and the Whale Watching gallery.

Now…about that blog candy.

The winner of the Fiery Floral backgrounder is comment #12- Jane T.

Mini Card Set Tutorial

This week’s tutorial features a set of 6 3″ x 3″ cards with watercolor washed backgrounds and some layered stamping with the super cool stamp set, Silhouette Blooms 1.  I’m also using the new Basic Grey Origins patterned papers, and some shades of Distress ink which coordinate very well with this collection.

Supplies:  Cornish Heritage Farms Silhouette Blooms 1 ; Ranger Distress Inks (Pine Needles, Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters, Mustard Seed); Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black; Fabriano Artistico Traditional White 140 lb Hot Press watercolor paper ; Basic Grey Origins patterned papers; 3″ x 3″ cards made from kraft cardstock; paintbrush; Fiskars Apron Lace punch; dimensional adhesive; heat gun.

minicardsupplies

Cut the watercolor paper into 6 2″ x 2 1/2″ pieces.  Press the Shabby Shutters ink pad onto a plate.

minicards1

Dip the paintbrush into the water and use the paintbrush to pull off and dilute the ink to a softer shade.  Now paint on the background on the watercolor paper in diagonal strokes.  Do 2 of these in Shabby Shutters, 2 in Mustard Seed, and 2 in Antique Linen.

minicards2

Use the heat gun to dry each of the background papers.  You will actually use the heat gun between each stamping so that the layers sit on top of each other rather than blending together.

minicards3

Stamp the branch silhouette in Antique Linen on each piece.  Try different alignments or even stamp the branch more than 1 time.

minicards4

Stamp each of the remaining 6 silhouette floral images with the Pine Needle ink on each card.  I like to have a portion of the flowers going off the page and partially overtop of the branches.  Now stamp Hello in Tuxedo Black ink wherever you have room.

minicards5

Sorry about the blur!  I was making these at 5 am in very low light.

Now assemble the cards.  Trim 6 of the patterned papers to 2 3/4″ square.  Use the Apron Lace punch on the left side of each piece.  Use your fingernail or an edge distresser tool to rough up the edges a little.  Adhere the patterned papers to the face of the card, then adhere each of the stamped images with dimensional adhesive.

Here is a close up of 1 of the finished cards:

minicards6

And here is the complete set:

minicards7

I find that I use little cards like this all of the time.  They’re great for teacher notes,  blog candy, RAKs, or any number of things.  If you’d like a chance to win Silhouette Blooms 1 please leave a comment on this post.  We will do a random draw and the winner will be announced on Friday.

(check back tomorrow for the winners of Tracy and Kristine’s tutorials)

Happy stamping,

King of Hearts

Elvis. One name says it all. The King of Rock and Roll.

Cornish Heritage Farms has an entire line of Elvis stamps and today is the release of the latest one called, “King of Hearts“.

128-The-King-of-Hearts

Don’t you love that the image is a playing card? And, you get two Elvis looks in one! Laura created a couple of beauties with this stamp. Check out this one, full of shimmery, glittery goodness…

CHFelvishearts

Here is a bit of  Elvis trivia for you. Did you know he got his very first guitar in 1946 when he was just 12 years old? It was a gift from his mother for his birthday and was purchased for $12.95 at the Tupelo Hardware Store. What a bargain!

Laura used a really cool bling guitar on this next card. Look closely and you will see she stamped on natural linen-finish cardstock (available in the CHF store). Ohhh, the texture is awesome!

CHFelvis2

You will find so many wonderful Elvis images in the CHF gallery, it is like a walk down memory lane.

Suddenly I feel the urge to go listen to “Jailhouse Rock”!

Thanks for stopping by. Let us know what you think of this latest Elvis from CHF.

Bee Mine Candy Box Tutorial

Valentine’s Day…hearts, chocolate, nice words, what’s not to love??  Today I have a fun little candy box to share with you.  Be warned though, after you make one you will want to make more!

1.14 bee mine box

Let’s get started. Don’t be intimidated by my supply list, this box takes minimal cardstock and supplies.

1-supply list

Supply List:
The Birds and the Bees” stamp set (Kim Hughes collection, CHF)
8.5×11 Simply Heavy black cardstock (CHF)
Simply Smooth Vanilla cardstock (CHF)
Piece of pattern paper (I used October Afternoon: Farm House)
Memento Inks-Tuxedo Black, Dandelion
Copic Markers
Spellbinder Scallop Heart and Heart Dies
Glitter-Art Institute
Ribbon (mine is from Jillibean Soup)
thread
Scissors
Quickie Glue pen
Foam Dimensionals
Scor-Tape or Red liner tape
Scoring tool (I used Scor Pal)
Die Cutting machine (I used a Big Shot)

2-box dimensions

1) Cut black cardstock in half lengthwise so you have 2 pieces of 11”x4 ¼”. Using one of the halves, cut one 4 1/8” square and one 4” square. Score both squares at 1” on all 4 sides.

3-cutting boxes
2) Cut along score lines up to the first score line on opposite sides of each box. Trim away edges of outer squares to create tabs as shown in the photo.
3) Fold along score lines and add adhesive as shown.
4) Remove backing from adhesive on corners only. Assemble boxes. Make sure they fit together properly. Set aside.

4-die cuts
5) Using the largest scallop heart die in the set, cut out 2 black hearts from the remaining 11″x4 ¼” piece of cardstock.
6) Using the largest plain heart die in the set, cut one heart from pattern paper.

5-attach bottom box
7) Remove liner from adhesive on the bottom box (the box made from 4” square piece), attach to one of the black hearts like shown in photo.

6-color bees
8 ) Stamp the bees and beehive onto vanilla cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink. Color in with Copic Markers. Don’t worry if you color outside the lines, you will be cutting out the images. After cutting them, apply glitter to the wings using a Quickie Glue pen.

7-color tag
9) Stamp a second beehive onto vanilla cardstock using Dandelion ink. Stamp sentiment over beehive using Tuxedo Black ink. Cut image to create a tag, layer with black cardstock. (see photo below)

8-cover, chocolate
10) Adhere pattern paper heart to second black scallop heart. Adhere cut out stamped images with dimensional foam. Add ribbon if desired.

box lid
11) Put box lid onto box bottom, remove adhesive and carefully adhere the top heart to the box. Use the bottom heart as your guide to line things up.
12) Add stamped tag to your box using linen thread.
13) Fill your box with candy of your choice. Box will perfectly fit 3 Ghiradelli squares of chocolate.

Voila! You are done.
In case you aren’t into the lovey-dovey part of Valentine’s Day, here is a second idea for decorating the box top. This time I used the set, Domestic Love.

1.14 love sucks box

Easy Peasy and oh so fun! If you don’t have heart dies, you can still make one, just draw and cut out your own hearts. Even a square lid would work.

Who will you make one for? A teacher, a friend, a co-worker or loved one? To help you out, we have one of Kim Hughes’ set, The Birds and the Bees, to give away to one lucky winner. To be entered, just leave a comment on this post and a winner will be drawn Monday at noon and announced on Tuesday.

Happy creating!

A Taste of the Orient

Trends come and go but have you ever noticed that the flavors of the Far East are never very far away? Whether it’s the cut of a collar on a catwalk dress, a floral print inspired by plum blossom or the graceful shape of a beautiful ceramic vase, you’ll find Oriental influences all around you.

The Saturday Evening Post cover artists of the 1920s and 30s found plenty of inspiration, as today’s release in the SEP collection shows – Asian Portraits is a collection of art focusing on all things Oriental.

5002---Asian-Portraits

I had fun picking out different parts from lots of the images to make this inchie card. I added a butterfly and some wording from an earlier SEP release – Vintage Butterflies – and just a hint of subtle colour in one or two places with some pale Copic markers.

asianInchies525

I love to find a stamp in a set that lends itself to uses outside the obvious, too. That ginger jar looked like a perfect candidate to be turned into a vase!

gingerJarVase

Just cover the lid area of the stamp with some tape or a sticky note while you ink up and then use a fineline marker to join across the top once it’s stamped on your project. This simple one layer card has extra interest from a tone on tone backgrounder – Tiled Scallops -  stamped over a sponged color block. Mask off your vase as well as your borders and then let your stamped flowers overhang the edges and you’ll have a card that’s light and flat for mailing but still has plenty of interest. My flowers are from the versatile Kim Hughes’ set Nature’s Silhouettes. I made faux brads by putting a little Glossy Accents onto some punched dots to keep the inside of the design clean, too.

Head over to the gallery if you’d like to see more samples made with Asian Portraits. I hope you have enjoyed today’s journey to the Far East – thanks for joining us!

Happy stamping!

When Scrapblocks were first released back in ….. I was thrilled.  They work great for scrapbooking and for getting full coverage on larger card bases.  I have fun trying to come up with other uses for them too!  I first learned how to make a Fan Bag many years ago at a stamping workshop.  Back then we used  roller stamps to cover the bag.  I recently tried one with a scrapblock and was very pleased with the results.  I think you’ll like it too!

For this project you’ll need:

Clearsnap Rouge Fluid Chalk ink
Copic markers (R81 & C3)
