Wow! Thank you so much for all your kind words this week in email, via the phone, with your orders & here on the CHF Be Creative Blog. Richard has been reading them all as they have come in but it is only now that I have had a chance to read the ones on here (been reading the others).

A comment made to us this week really touched me – it was the fact that we only get to live this life once & therefore need to make the most of it. Richard & I have always determined that we would live with no regrets. Have we made mistakes? Absolutely! BUT that does not mean that we constantly say to ourselves, “If only we….” We move on & hope to not repeat the same mistake again.

When Richard & I decided that we wanted to move we figured that we might as well move in style & do it big. Goodness, we left England in 1997 for Maryland, then moved to West Virginia in 2001 followed by the move here to Montana in 2003. So what was another big move?!

Many of you have asked if we are going to continue to blog about our family & animal life on our farm blog. Yes! Yes! Yes! You’re not getting rid of us that easily We really have no clue what the future holds for us but plan on taking you all along for the ride. I’m sure there will be quite some stories to tell. We have gotten to know so many of you over the last 5 years. As we have shared our lives with you, you have also shared parts of yours, encouraging us to keep on walking through the tough times & laughing with us through the fun times.

Looking back I well remember the fun we had on the original CHF Yahoo group before the new forums were set up. Those were special times & some of you have kept in touch since then. I will NEVER forget the week we were releasing the Thomas Kinkade line for the first time & had put a banner on Splitcoast that changed each day revealing a little more of the “mystery.” Most of you were totally mystified, had NO clue what was being released & it became quite a guessing game. Then the ball began to drop & one of our customers, Shelley, got it. She started to “play” along trying to get you guessing & came up with several clues, the last one of which was, “It rhymes with Llamas Parade.” I was laughing SO hard that morning That is one memory of many. Dee Ann, I even remember the ice storm you folks had & as for Pirate Linda, that woman kept us amused with her antics for many months.

Little did we know how the Thomas Kinkade license would open up so many other avenues for us. The company began to grow & some of those growing pains were hard to take. Many of you baulked at the new forum system as it was not as “intimate” as the Yahoo group but it was a necessary change. The forums & gallery have become a place of discussion & incredible creativity. Not only have our designers filled it with their creations but you, the consumers, have not been shy to upload your projects & therefore making it an invaluable resource for all.

Then there was the “Purple Monster” – the original website! Richard & I thought it was pretty cool back then but many folks just cringed & we were “persuaded” to update & change it bringing in the new logo & colors.

Talking of designers, I am not going to mention any names because I can pretty much guarantee I would forget someone, not intentionally but by accident, but we have been blessed to work with some of the most talented designers in the industry. To say CHF would not be where it is today without them is an understatement. They have taken the stamps & done wonders with them. Each one of them has had different strengths which is what made them work so well together. Along the way we have also had the pleasure of working with some incredible staff, folks that have challenged our ideas, stretched us until we thought we were going to break & put many, many hours into making CHF a success. Then there were the artists. If you don’t know this already Richard & I cannot draw. Yes we can clean & work with images already created like the Thomas Kinkade & many others but you would not want to see one of our drawings made into a stamp So to all of you who have been involved, we say a HUGE thank you. You know who you are & please know that we have appreciated each & everyone of you. And as for the rest of you who have been loyal customers, we wouldn’t be here without you either. You have helped spread the word & helped us grow. THANK YOU!

May the future be a blessed one for each & everyone of you. Remember to take a moment each day & count your blessings. Live every moment as if it was your last. As one of our stamps say, “Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly.”

Hugs to you all,

Richard & Liz

Well folks…
… life is changing for Richard & I and so the time has come to say “Goodbye” to the Rubber Stamp side of Cornish Heritage Farms.

In early 2009 we started making plans to move the farm to southern Missouri. That did not materialize & although disappointed at the time, as we look back we can see why. The plan to move was made before Michael got himself into trouble & WAY before he met Jessie. We were needed here to help Michael through his trials & then later to prepare them as best we could for married life. PLUS had we moved in 2009 we would have missed out on the blessing of Caleb. Now Michael & Jessie are married, settling into their new life together & Caleb’s adoption is complete.

As you well know, if you have been following our lives for very long, Richard & I never do things by halves! LOL! We are entrepreneurs in the truest sense of the word. We have watched the rubber stamp business grow & develop from practically nothing over the last 5 years. Alot of you have become good friends (hope that that doesn’t change) and it’s due to your loyalty as customers that CHF has been such a resounding success. The business is not in any financial difficulties, it is sound & making a good profit. Richard & I have just come to the place where we want to move on & start something fresh.

We have a buyer for the farm & although no fixed date for moving yet it is looking to be mid to late August. So with that in mind we wanted to give you a chance to purchase the stamps that you want/need & give ourselves time to liquidate all our inventory & equipment.

The business is up for sale and our desire is to see it go to someone who will take what we have started & grow it even beyond what it has become today. This is a great business to invest in & if you or anyone you know is interested please do not hesitate to contact us & we will put you in touch with the realtor. Serious enquiries only please. Although we are eager to sell & will accept offers we are talking about a substantial amount of money (6 digits).

Of course we have no idea what the new buyer will do, when the sale will occur or if they will offer all the same stamps for sale SO if there are stamps you want our advice is to get them now! Here is our timeline for shutting down:

Orders for any stamps will be accepted until Thursday, July 15th, 2010.

We will be closed on Friday, July 16th for stock take.

We will reopen Saturday July 17th, 2010 but we will not be pressing any new rubber, only remaining inventory will be sold at gradually discounted rates until it is all gone.

Our last day of trading will be Thursday Aug 5th, 2010.

Please keep in mind that orders may take longer to fulfill than normal due to an anticipated large order volume. We will keep you updated in the weekly newsletter & will be working hard to get orders out ASAP.

ALL sales are final from this time forward. NO returns will be accepted. If we should happen to make a mistake in your order please let us know ASAP so that we can fix it for you If you have a Gift Certificate please use it before August 5th, 2010. Club CHF points will continue to be awarded until July 15th, 2010. After that date you will have until August 5th, 2010 to redeem any rewards you are entitled too. After August 5th, 2010 any points left on your account will be canceled.

In all this we want to continue doing things with full integrity & will continue to produce a high quality product to the end. We thank you for your faith in us & really appreciate your business.

Tom Allen’s Friendly Kritters line is filled with charming stamps. I like their larger size and detail and they are really fun to color. For this week’s hop, I made my sample using the adorable Lending a Hand stamp.

Most of my coloring was done with Copic markers but lately I am also using my Prismacolor pencils to go in at the end to add more shading and details. No matter what medium, it is all therapy! These images are so easy to pair with the Friendly Kritters Sentiments too. My little sun peeking out was inspired by the sentiment and simply hand cut.

Can you believe it’s Friday already and we’re wrapping up another week of hopping and challenges? This Summer Fling is flying by!

First up we have the All Things Considered blog hop winners. Thanks to everyone for hopping along, checking out our projects, and leaving comments.

Andi Sexton is the winner of the $20 gift certificate to the CHF store

and

Birgit (the primitive country bug) is the winner of the $10 gift certificate

Liz will email you your gift certificates. Congrats!

The Gift Certificates will be valid for 6 months from date of issue. PLEASE NOTE that if you have a Club CHF award awaiting you on your next order, you will need to wait for the following order to use your Gift Certificate as the store only allows one discount per order.

Next up is the Special Prize for projects uploaded to the All Things Considered Special Gallery during the week. There were some real beauties to pick from, and this week’s prize goes to Leahlovesstamps for her Vintage Coaster Box.

She used a mix of stamps from Botanical Bliss and Key Elements to make this sweet, feminine, summery project. Leah, please email liz@cornishheritagefarms.com with the stamp set of your choice up to a $16.99 value.

And here are a few others that caught our eye:

An Old Fashioned Washboard by StamperSuzz. How creative is this? I’ve had the Branches folder since it first came out and I never in a million years would have thought to use it as a washboard. Or even to papercraft a washboard for that matter!

And this Quite a Pear tag that littlehippymom made with Can It is too cute. Look at that happy pair of pears!

There’s so much more to see in the ATC gallery as we get ready for next week. We’re featuring Friendly Critters with another sale starting tomorrow, a Blog Hop starting on Monday, and another Special Gallery challenge.

Have a nice weekend!

Today we’re focusing on making a gift that’s fun, easy and as individual as you care to make it! The main ingredient in this gift is not money but time – something we all feel short of sometimes and we all appreciate when somebody gives us a little of theirs to make our lives sweeter.

This little book can contain any kind of promises you like – a dozen freshly-baked cookies or muffins, a girls’ night in with a weepie movie and snacks, a picnic at the river… anything you can think of that your recipient will enjoy! I made six gift “coupons” for this book but you can make as many or as few as you like.

Using classic black and white means you’ll need minimal supplies to complete your book and the smart row of brads makes an easy and practical binding as well as a design element.

Let’s get started!

Supplies:
Haute Couture stamp set from the All Things Considered line
Simply Smooth White cardstock from CHF
Simply Linen cardstock black
White copy paper
Versafine ink by Tsukineko in Onyx Black
Tim Holtz Distress ink by Ranger in Weathered Wood
Scoring tool
Paper trimmer or ruler and blade
Crop-a-dile or hole punch
Silver mini brads by making memories
Adhesive
Your chosen wording – I printed mine out from the computer, you could hand write, use rub ons or alpha stamps if you prefer

Step 1:
Stamp the frame and the ladies and trim to 2 1⁄2 x 3 1⁄2 to make an ATC for your front cover. I like to stamp the ladies so that the solid colour of her hat just overlaps the top line of the frame – it gives the impression of them walking out from inside the lines.

Add words for the title of your book. I find it easiest to use a glue stick for this – wipe your little word cutting over the surface of the adhesive and then stick it into place, using tweezers if you find it easier to handle them that way (if you use your fingers, make sure you wipe off any adhesive before you handle the next word!).

Step 2
Cut black cardstock at 6 1⁄8 x 3 5⁄8 for your cover. Score at 2 5⁄8, 3, 3 1⁄8 and 3 1⁄2. If you have decided to make a book with lots of pages, you will need to increase the length of the cover – try adding 1⁄8 and increasing the central “spine” to 1⁄4.

Step 3
From copy paper, cut inner pages (I made six) 2 7⁄8 x 3 1⁄2. Using a sewing machine with no thread, “stitch” 3⁄8 in along one long edge to make perforations. I did three pages at once with no problem. You can draw a faint pencil line to guide you if you’re not confident about keeping a straight line.

Step 4
Line up your pages and use a couple of office clips or clothes pins to hold them together securely while you work on this next step. Measure the mid point (1 3⁄4)along the perforated edge and mark with a pencil. Mark at 1⁄2 intervals out to each end. You will have seven dots. Use a Crop-a-dile to punch through all the pages at each dot.

Step 5
Add stamped designs to your pages. I used black ink to stamp "accents" on three of mine and gray ink to make an all over pattern on the other three. Have fun experimenting with the stamps to see what patterns you can come up with!

Step 6
Add your chosen wording for each gift "coupon" - again, I used words printed out from the computer and snipped into individual blocks. I used a mixture of UPPER CASE and lower case words for extra interest. I decided to outline each block - just run a fine line marker around the cut edge if you decide you'd like to do the same.

Step 7
Line up all the pages and clip them inside the front cover. Use something pointy (the tip of your scissors will do if you don't have anything else to hand) to pierce through all seven holes. You are piercing through just one side of your cover in this step, the other side will be the back and will be used to cover up the binding brads. If you hold your project exactly as you see it in this picture and push your pokey tool through the punched holes you'll get the right result!

Step 8
Stick your ATC in place on the front cover (the side where you just made the holes.)

Step 9
Push brads through the holes and open up the legs. Keeping them parallel with the "spine" of the book will make it neater as they won't stick out into the back of the booklet or the fold of the spine.

Step 10
Add a line of adhesive inside the back cover and shut the booklet, pressing the spine firmly to make sure the adhesive sticks and the brads are neatly covered.

Finished project
All done, just wait for the recipient to "cash in" a coupon when a treat is needed!

This week’s Fling focus is the All Things Considered line.

Once again, two gift certificates will be awarded to two lucky winners who successfully follow the blog hop and comment as they go in the time allotted. It is not a race! The All Things Considered hop starts here today, comments must be made before midnight EST on Thursday, 6/24/10. Winners will be announced on Friday. 1st Prize is a $20 CHF gift certificate, 2nd Prize is a $10 CHF gift certificate which will be emailed to the winning participants. The gift certificates will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Please note that if you have a Club CHF award awaiting you on your next order, you will need to wait for the following order to use your gift certificate as the store only allows one discount per order.

If you upload a qualifying card using a stamp from the All Things Considered line to the special gallery by Thursday at midnight (6/24/10) you will be eligible for the Design Teams Favorite Prize which will be a rubber stamp/stamp set of your choice up to the value of $16.99.

OK, let’s cut to the chase! All Things Considered is a line of stamps perfectly proportioned if you like to work to create those mini masterpieces we know as Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) but with loads of versatility if your papercrafting preferences lie in other areas. Whether you want feminine, masculine, vintage, quirky… the ATC line has something to offer!

Lots of the ATC stamps work beautifully with the vintage style designer papers that are so popular at the moment. For this sample, I teamed up the Key Elements set with paper from Webster’s Pages. I stamped directly onto the paper with three of the stamps (key, “Antique” and script stamps) and used the Sigaut seal to create a separate embellishment by die cutting a circle with the stamped image in the center. I finished up with a sentiment from the Key Expressions set designed to complement the Key Elements set perfectly.

And here’s a “golden oldie” from the gallery for you. Botanical Bliss is one of my very favorite of the ATC sets and I love the way Lisa used it here – just look at those pansy flower borders – don’t they look like they just belong on that paper?! It’s all simple stamping here too – no tricky coloring or fancy tools needed to achieve this look. The beautifully detailed stamps are perfect for projects like this that have wow factor without the need for masses of tools or fancy techniques.

Lots of the design team are playing along today – we hope you can join us! Remember to leave comments as you go (leave one here as well!) to increase your chances in the draw for the gift certificates.
